I produced this short documentary in seven [sleepless] days start-to-finish for the Carolina Photojournalism Workshop, an ongoing documentary project chronicling the people and places of North Carolina. I had one week to find, film, and edit a story to be shown at a community screening at the end of the week.
Making this short documentary in Hickory, NC was the first time I ever felt as enchanted and fascinated by North Carolina as I do about people and places abroad. There is no boring place; there are no boring people. The art of interviewing and filmmaking could draw a meaningful story out of any person.
